Plus size model Tess Holliday shut down her haters for criticizing her workout routine, because it’s none of their beeswax
Tess Holliday did not come to play with y’all. If you’ve never heard her name, you’re late — because 1.5 million Instagram followers have. And they absolutely love her.
The Not So Subtle Art of Being A Fat Girl is the title of the plus size model’s new book. But the only thing not so subtle? The way Holliday clapped back to negative trolls after posting videos of her workout routine on Instagram. And we love a good clap back.
In the videos, we see Holliday squatting, lifting, and doing high knees. She’s working out with her trainer, Mack.
And that’s, of course, when all the pseudo-trainers and commentators came out of the bushes.
But Holliday didn’t let the haters get her down. Instead, she posted a screenshot of some of the worst offenders to make a statement about beauty standards.
The model penned a fiery yet tasteful caption that’s about so much more than working out.
"It's no ones [sic] business what I do with my body. It's not my place to tell others to work out either," Holliday wrote. "Y'all just can't handle seeing someone in a plus size body that isn't deemed desirable by societies standards THRIVING & it kills y'all. Worry about your own life."
Then, in an honest and eye-opening way, Holliday reminded us about the privilege we have with our bodies and why she really hits the gym.
"My mother is partially paralyzed & would love to move her body in the ways I did in my previous post, but unfortunately that's not a reality for her & so many other people," the caption continued. "When you start to truly love yourself, you take care of your body the way YOU see fit."
And the way we see fit is Tess Holliday showing us to love ourselves wholly and undoubtedly. You’re doing amazing, sweetie.
