Elon Musk posted the final pic of his Tesla in space, and it seriously looks photoshopped
On Monday, February 6th, Elon Musk made history when his company, SpaceX, successfully launched its biggest rocket ever. The Falcon Heavy rocket launch is a huge deal because it means we may be one step closer to Mars. And also because Elon Musk’s red Tesla Roadster, complete with a dummy driver named “Starman,” was on board. This morning, we got to see the latest and final shot of the Tesla in space, and it’s definitely one of the coolest photos we’ve ever seen.
In case you don’t know, Musk is a tech entrepreneur who created SpaceX, as well as PayPal and Tesla Motors. SpaceX, AKA Space Exploration Technologies Corp., is an aerospace manufacturing company that’s trying to push the limits on space travel. Musk’s ultimate goal with SpaceX is to create a spacecraft that allows people to travel to, and maybe even live on, other planets.
The Falcon Heavy is the second most powerful rocket in history, and the launch was a huge success. The rocket made it into orbit, with the red Tesla roadster attached. Thanks to cameras that broadcast a livestream, we’ve been able to see it from here on Earth. Musk has posted photos of the car in space with David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” on loop, along with the Starman dummy and the “Don’t Panic license plate.” It’s seriously epic.

The rocket was supposed to enter an orbit around Mars, but the rocket’s engines were so powerful that it overshot its course, instead reaching the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
Musk had warned that the car’s battery would die about 12 hours after launch, ending the amazing views of space from the camera — and that’s exactly what went down. But right before it died, we got one last truly amazing shot: Planet Earth fading into the distance.

This is most likely the last image we’ll ever see of Starman and the red Tesla. We can’t wait to see what Musk thinks up next.
