Here's the first female YouTube star to get a wax figure
Barack Obama, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, Marilyn Monroe, Iron Man…these are just a few of the super famous people who have been immortalized in crazy-accurate, life-size wax form at Madame Tussauds. And now YouTube sensation Jenna Marbles aka Jenna Mourney will be joining their ranks!
Madame Tussauds made the big announcement recently on the museum’s webpage, where you can see photos of Jenna being measured for her wax replica (artists took over 250 detailed measurements!) and even picking out eyeballs.
NBD. Just like choosing an outfit, right?
Why Jenna Marbles? Maybe because that, as of May 2015, her YouTube channel happens to be the top channel operated by a woman. (You go, girl!) Her vlogs cover topics ranging from Things Girls Lie About, Things That Are Ruining my Life and (my personal fave) My Dogs Draw their Lives, and have chalked up more than 1.8 billion views. Yeah. That pretty much calls for a wax figure in Times Square, dontcha think?
According to Madame Tussauds, waxy Jenna will also be their very first selfie-taking wax figure. She’s positioned in that classic selfie-taking pose we all know so well, outstretched arm and all. But here’s the amazing part: the cell phone in her hand is an actual working camera that will take pics of museum visitors alongside Jenna’s wax figure.
Jenna herself seems just as excited about her wax doppelganger as we are, posting a video from Madam Tussauds on Instagram along with a caption expressing her glee, “…seriously, this is probably the coolest thing that has ever happened I’m just so completely floored by this and thank you so much @nycwax.”
We can’t wait to see what the wax figure will look like, and we won’t have to for long. It will take its place in the Times Square museum location this October. Which means you’ve got three months to get your selfie game on Jenna’s level. (Just kidding…we know your selfie game is strong.)
In the meantime, if you’re wondering what all goes into being replicated in wax, take a look at these pics from Jenna’s meeting with studio artists who took her measurements. Those are no ordinary rulers!
Congrats Jenna! See you in October.
