I swear, Pixar, you’re really pushing the limit. I know you want to make me cry just like you have in every movie you’ve ever made, but did you need to make me tear up WITH A TRAILER? When The Good Dinosaur comes out at Thanksgiving this year, the LA basin better watch out, because my tears will water the fields and end the drought.

As you can see from this new teaser trailer, the movie is sure to be full of heartwarming moments, awe-inspiring moments, laugh-filled moments, basically just all the moments. The titular dinosaur has got an awfully expressive, non-evolutionarily-accurate face. We can already see the emotional impact his hero’s journey is going to have on us, almost like a meteor into our hearts. More information after the trailer!

The Good Dinosaur will mark the first time Pixar has released two films in one year (the first this year was Inside Out, of course). It’s also first Pixar film to be helmed by a non-white director, Peter Sohn, who has worked with Pixar for a long time. In fact, he was the “visual inspiration” for Russell in Up, as well as inspiring and voicing several other characters in the Pixar canon. That’s right — Russell is directing The Good Dinosaur.

John Lasseter, head Pixar honcho, has revealed a few other tantalizing tidbits about the film. For example, the hair on the velociraptors of this world are “modeled after famous soccer players.” Sounds a little different from the ‘raptors in Jurassic World!

Finally, we know that the story of the movie focuses on an Apatosaurus named Arlo, who loses a parent (ALWAYS WITH THE TEARS, PIXAR) and goes on a journey, picking up a boy named Spot along the way. “This is a boy and a dog story, but the roles are reversed. Arlo, the dinosaur, is the boy in the story and Spot is the dog,” Lasseter said.

The world of the movie is one where the dinosaurs were not wiped out by a meteor at all, but coexist with humans. With Neil Patrick Harris, Bill Hader, Anna Paquin, and Frances McDormand as voice talents, it’s sure to be stellar. We can’t wait! Check out the trailer for yourself:
