With the news that One Direction is going on hiatus after the release of their fifth album (which is their first without ex-member Zayn Malik), Directioners have been gearing themselves up for the last musical gift from their quartet of boy band idols. But news about the release has been shaky: Will it be right before their scheduled break, in March? A late year drop à la Queen Bey? Something you only get after you offer up a gallon of 1D feelings tears to the music gods? (Not that we’ve tried that…)

Well, the road to answers might be more obvious than you’d thought: Why not just ask Siri? Apple’s handy assistant has already sassed us and schooled us, so it wouldn’t be thaaaat much of a stretch for her to have some cheeky answer on hand when pressed about the upcoming One Direction album. Except, well, according to her, today’s the day of the album drop. Say what?

Tumblr user loufondshazza got the shock of a lifetime when she asked Siri, out of the blue, “When is One Direction releasing their next album?” Siri could’ve said anything from “Never” to “It’s already out there in the world, somewhere,” but instead, she offered a very specific and consistent date:

Hold up, that can’t be real, right… But if you try the trick out yourself, you’ll get the same response too; here’s a screenshot of the convo on my phone:

Siri, what does this mean? How do you know this? Are you actually reading my question or are you just telling me what day it is? Is this some weird Apple Music promo event? Until we get some answers by the end of the day, we’ll be on our toes — but alas, if nothing happens, it won’t be the first time this year an anticipated album flew past its release date.

One Direction is taking an indefinite hiatus starting in March — all the crying emojis

Here’s One Direction’s first single without Zayn. Spoiler: It’s still awesome.
