Who run the world? Teens. Time has released their annual list of the 30 most influential teens and, as you would expect, a lot of awesome (and familiar) names made the list.
There’s Maddie Ziegler who, at thirteen years old, already has quite a name for herself. Not only a star of the TV show Dance Moms, she’s gone on to star in music videos for Sia that have over 1.4 billion views, as well as model, most recently in the Fall 2015 Polo Ralph Lauren fashion show.
There’s also Rowan Blanchard, a 14-year-old favorite of ours who has been making a name for herself in activism as feminism (that is, when she’s not starring in Girl Meets World).
Of course, the list includes teens like Ahmed Mohamed (“Cool clock, Ahmed”), trans 15-year-old Jazz Jennings, Amandla Stenberg, Zendaya, and pretty much everyone else you’d want at your sleepover. The honorees range from pop culture icons (like Kendall and Kylie Jenner) to gifted geniuses (like Tiffany Zhong, Olivia Hallisey, and William Turton) to athletes (like Martin Odegaard, Chloe Kim, and Lydia Ko).
While teens get their own separate list, it’s clear the things they’re doing aren’t any less remarkable than the influential adults Time also profiles. It’s just even more impressive that they’re achieving their goals faster and making a name for the younger generation.
With 30 awesome teens all with bright futures ahead, I’m not too worried about what the world has in store. If this list is any indication, it will be a world of science, diversity, and selfies. And that sounds pretty good to me.
