This teen taught herself to be a model using YouTube because the future is now

YouTube can teach you lots of things: How to make crafts, how to put on make-up, and, now, how to model. At least, that was the case for Philadelphia teen Allyson Chalmers, who submitted her photos to modeling agency IMG’s #WYLG contest and was immediately scouted to walk the runway at for Calvin Klein. When she heard the news, she did what any teen would do: She turned to YouTube.

“I practiced my walk in my dining room when nobody was home,” the high school senior told Refinery 29. “So I could play my music as loud as I wanted!” By watching YouTube videos and practicing at home, Chalmers was runway-ready by New York Fashion Week, when she first debuted her catwalk talents.

Who’d have thought that now she’d be in London going to castings? Certainly not Chalmers:

That’s the perfect attitude to have in life, and with resources like YouTube, there truly is no reason a regular person like you or me couldn’t learn the most awesome things. We wish Chalmers the best of luck in her modeling career — just make sure you’re back in time for midterms!
