This teen was shamed for bringing “too big” of a lunch, and ugh

Unfortunately, we still live in a world where a high school student gets shamed for her lunch by the adults who are supposed to be taking care of her. A mother on Mumsnet shared the story of when her teenage daughter came home from school saying she got scolded for “having too much in her lunch box.” Apparently there are supervisors at her daughter’s school that check each student’s lunch box as they arrive to class, and then dole out judgment or suggestions based on what they see.
This mother goes by LemonDrizzleDisco on Mumsnet, and she wrote about the experience and started a discussion with other moms who are also raising teenage daughters. She says her daughter “was told off for having too much in her lunch box,” which consisted of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a small banana, strawberries, a few grapes, and a small amount of raisins and dried coconut flakes.
Nope, this isn’t a joke. We wish it were, but it isn’t. LemonDrizzleDisco’s daughter is vegan, and she says the main food the school offers isn’t suitable for her diet: sausage, cake, sandwiches, etc. As a result, she has to pack her daughter a suitable lunch that will give her all the nutrition she needs to get through the day.
However, the adults at her daughter's school insist that her lunch is "unhealthy." They don't approve of having a few slices of avocado in her lunch box, and they definitely don't approve of the amount of food she has in there either.
LemonDrizzleDisco is rightfully confused by this, and the other moms on Mumsnet are stepping up to support her.
“The last thing teenage girls need is encouragement of competitive non-eating!” one mom said. That couldn’t be more true, and we really hope LemonDrizzleDisco’s daughter doesn’t feel embarrassed by what she’s eating, because there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a full, healthy meal when you’re a growing teenage girl.
