Holy bananas: This 17-year-old reporter just broke a world record

Pavlina Osta is a celebrity journalist, radio host, Gracie Award Winner, Disney Dreamer participant, Huffington Post contributor, and author. And in case you were wondering how any woman has accomplished that much in her lifetime, prepare to be even more blown away: Pavlina is just 17 years old.

Pavlina started interviewing celebrities when she was 11, and her momentum has just kept growing. She’s spoken with the likes of Steven Forbes, Carly Rae Jepsen, Ed Sheeran, Shaquille O’Neal and Katie Couric. She currently hosts her own radio show, “Pavlina’s Kidz Place,” which airs on fifteen radio stations in the US.

Not impressed yet? Just yesterday, Pavlina was just awarded the Guinness World Record for the most radio interviews in 24 hours. Basically, back in November, she hunkered down in a Walmart in Florida from 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 23 until 9 a.m. the next day. During that time, Pavlina interviewed 347 people—presumably customers—and livestreamed the whole thing.

No, that’s not a typo. 347 interviews in 24 hours. Each interview had at least five questions, and Pavlina made sure not to ask the same question twice all day. Because those numbers are too big to do the math in my head, I just asked Google, and that’s 1,735 interview questions Pavlina prepared for her interviewing extravaganza. Her interview questions ranged from asking someone in recovery about sobriety to asking a sci-fi fan what his ultimate party costume would be. Personal favorite question: “Butterflies taste with their feet, so what if you had to taste with your feet?” That’s a toughie. (You can watch the whole interviewing bonanza on YouTube.)

“It was an amazing 24 hours of adrenaline and I was determined to make it happen, and so excited that I did it,” Pavlina said in a statement. “This was a world wide statement for women in media, particularly women in radio – we are out here throughout the airwaves making things happen! There’s a new generation of women in media and I’m very proud to be part of it!”

As if we didn’t have enough reason to be amazed by Pavlina, she also donated one can of pet food to Sophie’s Circle for each interview she completed.

Did I mention that in addition to her radio show, Pavlina is also a ballet dancer, steel drum performer, National Girl Scout Delegate, and philanthropist? She also worked in Florida’s House of Representatives and Senate as a Page for four years, interviewing politicians as well as celebrities.

Pavlina shares many interviews on her YouTube Channel, Pavlina’s Music, and works as the Junior Editor for I Am Entertainment Magazine as well as a columnist for Full Access Magazine and New Smyma Observer. I’m not even going to think about what I’d accomplished at her age.

If you want to learn more about Pavlina’s amazing journey, check out her new book, Talk to Me: The Road Trips of a Teenage Celebrity Radio Host. Its release was yet another milestone she accomplished this past year.
