This is huge: Finally a FREE SAT prep course

True or false: Sometimes it feels like the SAT is biased. If you think about it for even a few seconds, it’s pretty clear that the answer to that question is a resounding “true.” In fact, several studies have suggested as much, especially when it comes to race. But the test also can be economically divisive. Those who have the money to pay for fancy-shmancy prep programs are more likely to have a leg up when it comes to taking the actual exam, compared to someone who’s going in on their own.

Thankfully, that’s no longer a concern. Now there’s (finally!) a SAT prep course that’s completely free. As in zero dollars. As in anyone can do it!

It’s called, aptly, the Official SAT Practice, and it’s a partnership between College Board and Kahn Academy, an online education company. It’s a part of College Board’s push to make the SAT more accessible. In addition to this service, they plan on partnering with nonprofits and school districts to spread the word about this resource, as well as ensure that students have equal access to the tool when it comes to computers and the Internet.

So what exactly does it do? A lot, it seems. The prep ranges from videos, quizzes and step by step instructions for the most common types of SAT problems. There’s also full-length exams for when it’s time for you to bring out the big guns.

This program is specifically tied with the 2016 exam, so if you’re a high school junior or below, this is even more applicable to you. But no matter your age, it never hurts to refresh yourself on some of the basics of math and verbal communication. At no cost to you, what do you have to lose?
