This teen climbs the highest structures in the world to take unbelievable sneaker selfies
Andrej Ciesielski from Munich, Germany, has taken the art of the selfie to a staggering new level. I mean this in the most literal way possible. The 18-year-old has been traveling to all sorts of amazing places around the world, climbing to the top of skyscrapers and pyramids (yes…we said pyramids, as in those pyramids) and taking shoe selfies. The results are pretty incredible, like the time he dangled above Times Square…
And the time he hung out in Hong Kong.
And also the time he went to Dubai.
And let’s not forget the time he went to Cairo.
Okay, I might need a minute (or an hour) to get over my travel envy of this guy’s schedule. Because wow. But back to his amazing selfies…
While Andrej was in Egypt, he decided to capture the ultimate shoe selfie by climbing the Great Pyramid of Giza. Um…okay. We have a few problems with this. Aside from the fact that it’s super illegal, it’s also crazy dangerous. Not to mention the fact that the Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the Seven Wonders of the World, (the oldest one, actually) and climbing around on it can erode the rock and damage a priceless treasure. (Seriously, don’t do this. Please.)
Regardless, Andrej did it. According to his blog, he made it all the way to the top in just under 8 minutes and ten took this photo:
Then he climbed back down and was promptly taken into custody by Egyptian police. (Because again, what he did was super illegal.) He was released without being charged. Andrej told the Telegraph, “When I got back down, the police were quick to take me to the station and question me. They also had a look at my camera to see what I had been up to. At first, they wanted to take me to the German embassy, but after a while I was released without anything further happening.”
Like we said, we definitely don’t recommend climbing the pyramid. Besides, you don’t have to, because Andrej captured the entire experience on his GoPro. Check out in the footage here. In the meantime, we hope Andrej keeps dazzling us with amazing shoe selfies. Just do it safely (and legally), okay?
