Best teachers ever pump up their students with a shot-for-shot ‘Uptown Funk’ parody
Say it with me now: Standardized tests are the worst. But, if you absolutely have to take them (you do), some motivation from your teachers via a customized song and dance, set to Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s hit-that-just-won’t-die “Uptown Funk” is probably the best thing to have on your side.
Texas middle school teacher Kelly Hauzer/”Lady Hauza” regularly makes motivational music video parodies for her students in the run-up to the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test. This year, her lucky students were treated to a shot-for-shot remake of the groovy “Uptown Funk,” acted out by their middle school faculty. While the lyrics aren’t as catchy as, say, this Harry Potter “Funk” parody, the commitment to accuracy is amazing.
No, seriously — the accuracy of the remake is so on point that Hauzer decided to put the two videos side by side, just to underline how fly she and the rest of her school crew are.
Look, we’re not saying Hauzer’s students are going to get into the top 1% of STAAR test takers in the state just because of this video. But, it certainly doesn’t hurt students to know that their teachers care enough about them that they’ll put together something as awesome as this. We know we haven’t seen the last of the “Uptown Funk” parodies, but unless any of them are furthering anyone’s education, we’ve got ourselves a winner. (Just kidding, all of them are winners, though Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars are the biggest winners of them all.)
