Why ‘Teachers’ is the new must-watch show of 2016

Being a teacher is hard work — but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its perks. Even if they occasionally get gum stuck in their hair or a rotten apple on their desk, the job is totally worth it. Teachers are responsible for shaping the next generation of humans; and therefore play a major part in shaping the world’s future. They deserve all the credit in the world for what they do — and there’s a new show coming to TV that’s giving them the spotlight they deserve.

In TV Land’s new series Teachers, we finally get to see all the ups and downs of daily life at a school from the teachers’ perspective. It’s all kinds of amazing, and a must-watch whether or not you were teacher’s pet in elementary school. Starring the incredible comediennes of The Katydids, the show is an absolute delight: Teachers is hilarious, unexpected, and forever changing how we look at our beloved professors.

Here are just a few more reasons why we think you should tune in when the show airs Wednesday nights at 10:30pm on TV Land.

1.  It stars an awesome, all-girl improv team

We’re sick and tired of hearing the myth that women just aren’t as funny as men. The Katydids are hilarious as individuals and a group, and we can’t wait to watch them kick ass on Teachers.

2.  It’s all about female friendships

All we want in life is someone to sip tea with who won’t judge us for our shade. Teachers definitely passes the Bechdel Test; and we couldn’t be more excited to see a show that features female friendships so prominently.

3.  It’s relatable for anyone struggling with young adulthood

Navigating adulthood is rough. Sometimes, at the end of the day, all you want to do is unwind with a beer in your most comfortable sweatpants. The ladies of Teachers totally get that — and will make you feel way less alone.

4.  It reminds us that teachers have lives outside of school

We know, it’s shocking. Teachers reminds us that all of our professors are dealing with their own set of problems outside of the classroom. They’re not just grading papers all day!

5. It’s proof that taking care of kids is rewarding but exhausting

Kids can be pretty darn cute — but they can also be very tough to handle. When you’re part of someone’s upbringing, you end up having to teach them how to be a normal, functioning human. As a result, you might just get some food to the face along the way.

6. It gets intimate about what teachers really talk about behind closed doors

It might just surprise you, but teachers have favorite students and kids that drive them crazy. They gossip about other teachers and share their opinions on the latest school changes. Teachers might be rainbows and sunshine in the classroom, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have opinions — and Teachers gives us a glimpse at all of them.

7. It finally gives teachers the recognition they deserve — in the funniest way possible

By far one of the most humble professions of all time, teachers deserve all the credit in the world for what they do. Teachers gives this to them in spades, and finally gives them the comedy spotlight.

Teachers airs Wednesday nights at 10:30pm on TV Land.
