This teacher greets every one of his students with personalized handshakes everyday, is the teacher we wish we had
Chances are, you made a “secret handshake” or two as a kid — but you’ve got nothing on this North Carolina teacher who has a secret handshake with every one of his students. It might be the most adorable thing we’ve ever seen.
Barry White Jr. is a 5th-grade English teacher at Ashley Park PreK-8 School. He told ABC News the handshakes started as something fun to do during recess.
“This [school] year I started making handshakes with the kids at recess. It was just one or two students and then it became contagious, White said. “I saw how much it meant to them, so I said, ‘Come on. Everyone come on.’ Then it was my full class, then it was kids from other classes. Now I have 3rd graders wanting to do it too.
White says the handshakes help the kids get excited for a day of high-energy teaching.

The school’s Principal, Meaghan Loftus, says the handshakes are helping to form lasting bonds between teachers and students.
“The only way to help our scholars achieve at high levels every day is to embrace the need for a meaningful and deep relationships, Loftus told ABC.
