A middle-school teacher apparently fed a puppy to a turtle in front of students, and WTF
Get ready to be upset, since this story is pretty disturbing. While we understand the circle of life and everything, a junior high biology teacher from Preston, Idaho named Robert Crosland pushed that concept into complete animal cruelty on March 7th after he fed a possibly live puppy to a snapping turtle in front of students. Yes, that actually happened.
Crosland has been a teacher at Preston Junior High School for years, and he’s currently under investigation. Preston School District 201 Superintendent Marc Gee provided comment to East Idaho News, saying it was “a regrettable circumstance involving some of the biological specimens.” Gee went on to say that the act wasn’t part of any sort of lesson and occurred after class had ended — but a few students still saw the feeding take place.
"The event occurred well after students had been dismissed and was not a part of any school-directed program," Gee said in a statement, per East Idaho News. "We emphasize that at no time was the safety of students or staff compromised."
According to WREG in Tennessee, an animal activist named Jill Parrish filed the report against Crosland. She said she heard about the cruel act from another teacher at the school. Parrish heard that the puppy was alive during the feeding, but sick. This has yet to be confirmed though, with many news outlets reporting that they’re unsure whether the puppy was alive or dead at the time.
The news has gone viral, and many people are having a hard time understanding why this happened.
It's doubtful the students would learn much about compassion in Robert Crosland's class. Fire him as it's obvious he's in the wrong profession. 😾

Crosland is known for keeping animals in his classroom, and East Idaho News also reported that three anonymous students came forward to claim that they saw the teacher feeding guinea pigs to the class snake before.
We hope the investigation into the matter is thorough, and we’ll be monitoring this one as it develops.
