Taylor Swift wrote “Reputation” about Tom Hiddleston before their breakup, according to a fan conspiracy theory
Taylor Swift released her latest album Reputation last week and already the conspiracy theories are rolling in. Because of Swift’s narrative-first songwriting style, fans naturally look for clues in the lyrics to figure out who and what she’s singing about. The world is playing a game of “which boyfriend is it?” Not meant at all to shame or ridicule, but rather, people just want to know more about the secret lives of famous people. On first listen, it’s pretty clear that most of Reputation is about Swift’s boyfriend of a year, Joe Alwyn. However, there are a few who think most of Reputation is actually about Tom Hiddleston and that Swift changed details in the song after their breakup so they apply to her current relationship with Alwyn. Like we said, these are internet theories, and we’re just presenting the facts.
“MY NEW CONSPIRACY THEORY: Taylor Swift wrote all of Reputation about Tom Hiddleston and swapped a few choice lyrics to make it about Joe,” according to this fan.
Another person chimed in with, “Thank you! I keep saying this! It’s the only thing that makes any sense! ‘Gorgeous’ is definitely about Tom. ‘Call It What You Want’ is, possibly, the only true Joe song.”
Some others think the multiple lyrics about Alwyn’s age are too frequent and too “heavy-handed,” as if Swift is really trying to drive the point home.
Others simply believe that the most swoon-worthy songs are still about Hiddleston:
I'm almost positive King of My Heart is about Tom Hiddleston and that makes me love it more #TaylorSwift #Reputation #TomHiddleston

We even posited that “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” is about Hiddleston, as evidenced by videos of them dancing together at the 2016 Met Gala.
We could literally go insane trying to decode Swift lyrics. Are there more Hiddleswift songs than we realize?
