Taylor Swift will perform a never-before-heard song tonight during “Scandal”
Taylor Swift will perform a never-before-heard song tonight, and you can only hear it if you watch the Shondaland lineup on ABC tonight. This will mark Swift’s first television appearance and first performance to promote the new album (which drops tomorrow, #Reputation). Every Thursday, ABC airs the network’s TGIT Block, which is compromised of Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder. You know — all the Shonda Rhimes shows.
Swift’s acoustic performance will air during a Scandal commercial break, so sometime between 9 and 10 p.m. ET. Since Swift’s cat IS named after Meredith Grey from Grey’s Anatomy, it seems like her musical performance should air during that show, but eh, we digress.
The new song is called “New Year’s Day” and judging by the just-released promo video, we’re guessing it’s a ballad. In the promo, Swift plays the piano and gives us vivid “All Too Well” flashbacks. Never forget when Swift head-banged on the piano at the 2014 Grammys.
The performance was filmed during one of Swift’s now-legendary “Secret Sessions” at her Rhode Island home. A longer version of the performance will air on Freeform tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET.

Swift’s new album Reputation hits stores tomorrow Friday, November 10. And by stores, we literally mean physical stores. Yes, you can buy the album on iTunes but also where physical CDs are sold. If you want to stream the album on Spotify or Apple Music, you have to wait a week.
