Taylor Swift will likely take the stand in a case against a DJ who allegedly groped her

It looks like after approximately two years of litigation, Taylor Swift will finally be taking the stand. The singer-songwriter will likely testify against radio DJ David Mueller, the man accused of groping Swift at a meet-and-greet event in 2013, during civil court proceedings scheduled to begin next week.

Back in 2013, Swift accused Mueller, co-host of KYGO’s Reno and Jackson radio show, of reaching under her skirt and grabbing her bare butt during a backstage photo op at a Swift concert in Denver, Colorado. Immediately following the incident, Swift notified her tour manager and security team, who then tracked down Mueller, removed him and his girlfriend (who was present at the time of the encounter) from the event, and banned him from Swift shows for life.

When Mueller’s employers at KYGO caught wind of the altercation, they promptly fired Mueller, citing the morality clause in his contract after it was revealed he was less than truthful about the details of the incident. Out of a job, Mueller claimed he was falsely accused and now seeks $3 million in damages.

But T-Swift is not backing down. Just 23 at the time of the assault, the superstar said she was “shocked and distressed by Mueller’s harmful and offensive physical conduct” in court documents. Hoping the case serves as “an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts,” Swift has vowed to donate any monies awarded to her by the court to non-profit organizations “dedicated to protecting women from similar acts of sexual assault and personal disregard.” false

This isn’t the first time Swift has spoken out against perpetrators of sexual assault. Last year, Swift gifted pop star Kesha with $250,000 in a show of support in the wake of Kesha’s unsuccessful lawsuit against her record producer and alleged sexual assailant, Dr. Luke.

We’ve always got your back, Taylor!
