Taylor Swift surprised a frontline nurse with a handwritten letter and thank you gift

Taylor Swift personally thanked a fan working on the frontlines during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and the recipient was totally shocked. On May 3rd, Swift sent a package filled with merchandise from her latest album, Lover, to Whitney Hilton, a nurse from Utah who traveled to work in New York City during the crisis. But aside from the plethora of tie-dye t-shirts, Hilton was more appreciative of the thoughtful thank you note Swift hand-wrote.

The singer wished Hilton a happy birthday and expressed her gratitude for the work she’s doing on the frontlines. It’s safe to say, Hilton was surprised and thrilled.

May 3rd was Hilton’s 30th birthday, as well as the day she celebrated returning home after volunteering to work at Northwell Health’s Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Hilton frequently posts about all-things-Swift on her Twitter account, where her bio reads, “Nurse by day, Swiftie ALWAYS.” When Hilton received the package, she posted photos of the merch and handwritten letter to her account.

“I need to PUBLICLY THANK TAYLOR SWIFT @taylorswift & @taylornation13 @treepaine for sending me a box full of Merch & a PERSONALIZED LETTER from Taylor herself for my 30th birthday/for going to NYC to help as a nurse. This was quite literally the BEST DAY OF MY LIFE,” she wrote.

Now that’s a lot of merch. Our personal favorite piece is probably the sleep mask that reads “Calm down,” which references Swift’s single “You Need to Calm Down.” In the photo, you can see Swift’s personalized stationery, which is signed, “Songwriter/Feline Enthusiast.” Could that be more classic Tay?

“I wanted to send you some presents and to let you know I am so grateful for you,” Swift wrote to the nurse.

“I can’t thank you enough for risking your life to help people and for spreading the message loudly that people need to hear about taking this seriously,” Swift continued.

“Also, I saw the photo of you from my show! Thank you for coming! I would love to give you a hug next time and thank you in person. With love and admiration, Taylor,” she concluded.

This isn’t the first time Swift has shown her appreciation for those doing their part to help during the coronavirus pandemic. In March, Swift sent $3,000 to two longtime fans who were struggling to make ends meet. The generosity she shares with her fans is heartwarming to see during such a difficult time. We, too, are grateful for Hilton’s bravery and selflessness during this crisis.
