Taylor Swift plans to re-record her old albums after the Scooter Braun drama, and we’re drooling over a new “All Too Well”
Update, August 22nd, 1:00 p.m. EDT: On Good Morning America, Taylor Swift confirmed her plans to re-record her music, and she gave an update as to when we can expect it to happen.
“It’s something that I’m very excited about doing because my contract says that starting November 2020—so next year—I can record albums one through five all over again, Taylor said. “Because I just think that artists deserve to own their work. I just feel very passionately about that. Yeah it’s next year, it’s right around the corner. I’m going to be busy.

On the eve of the release day for Taylor Swift’s new album, Lover, Swifties might be in for more than just 18 new songs from the pop queen herself. Swift just revealed plans to re-record her masters amid the Scooter Braun drama, and here’s everything we know.
To recap: Last month, the “ME!” singer revealed that Braun, who manages artists like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato, acquired the rights to her entire catalog of music after she ended her contract with Big Machine Label Group—the label she’d been with since 2006. Swift claimed unfair treatment by her label, which Braun bought out, and cited longtime bullying by the music mogul.
As Swift prepared to start anew with her new label, Republic Records and Universal Music Group, fans and celebrities (like Kelly Clarkson) alike rallied behind her, suggesting that she re-record her old albums as a way to take back control of her art without supporting Braun. This is something that has been done before in recent years by artists like Def Leppard and JoJo after battles with their respective labels.
And now it seems Swift is on board, telling CBS Sunday Morning that she “has a plan” to re-record her old albums, and we are cheering at this news.

The interview doesn’t air until Sunday, August 25th, but when asked if she plans to re-record the old music, she said, “Oh, yeah.”
“That’s a plan?” the interviewer asked again, and she replied, “Yeah, absolutely.”
We’ll have to tune in on Sunday to see if she goes into any further details, but we’re positively brimming over the thought of a 2019 version of “All Too Well” and, well, all our favorite old Taylor jams.

Though we’re sure getting in the studio to re-record six whole albums is going to take a lot of time and effort, we know it’ll be well worth the wait. After all, Swift’s voice and artistry have evolved so much over the past 13 years, and we can’t wait to hear modern takes on her old classics.
