Taylor Swift just revealed her mom has a brain tumor, and our hearts are breaking

Taylor Swift just opened up about the struggles her family is currently facing. The singer has been notoriously private about her family life, especially regarding her mother Andrea’s health journey in recent years. But now, she’s revealed that her mom has a brain tumor, and our hearts are going out to Taylor and the entire Swift family during this difficult time.

A few years ago, Taylor revealed that both of her parents have faced cancer before. But now, her mom Andrea is in the midst of battling an undisclosed type of the illness for the second time. On her most recent album, Lover, one song stuck out as deeply personal: “Soon You’ll Get Better.” Fans have speculated that the moving track is about Swift’s mom, and the singer herself has noted that she doesn’t like to speak about that song, or even listen to it.

In an interview with Variety, when Swift discussed her upcoming documentary, Miss Americana, the topic of her foregoing the usual world tour that follows an album release of hers came up, and she dove deeper into the reasoning behind that decision.

“I also wanted to be able to work as much as I can handle right now, with everything that’s going on at home,” Swift told Variety. “And I wanted to figure out a way that I could do both those things.”

When asked if being there during her mother’s battle with cancer is mainly the reason she needs to be home more often, Swift divulged more about her personal life than she typically does in interviews.

“While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumor," Swift told Variety. "And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before. So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family.

Not only is Andrea Taylor’s mother, but she’s also her manager and has been a part of the biggest decisions of Taylor’s career since she was just starting out as a young artist.

“Everyone loves their mom; everyone’s got an important mom, Swift said. “But for me, she’s really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness.

Taylor noted that they “don’t know what treatment we’re going to choose,” as a family. As fans of Taylor and her family, we’re hoping for the best for Andrea’s health.
