In a rare move, Taylor Swift got political and showed support for March For Our Lives

Ahead of Saturday’s (March 24th) March For Our Lives rallies and protests to put an end to gun violence, celebrities from Oprah Winfrey to George Clooney have shown their support for the cause. And now, we can add Taylor Swift to that growing list.

The musician took to Instagram on Friday, March 23rd, to rally behind gun reform, and the Parkland, Florida students, faculty, family, and friends who are advocating for it. And she made it clear that no one, and this can’t be said enough, should be subjected to gun violence.

Here’s what Taylor Swift wrote about March For Our Lives:

"No one should have to go to school in fear of gun violence," Swift wrote, then referencing other tragic shootings. "Or to a nightclub. Or to a concert. Or to a movie theater. Or to their place of worship. I’ve made a donation to show my support for the students, for the March For Our Lives campaign, for everyone affected by these tragedies, and to support gun reform. I’m so moved by the Parkland High School students, faculty, by all families and friends of victims who have spoken out, trying to prevent this from happening again."

The post, which currently has comments disabled, marks a rare move for Taylor Swift — who often (and controversially) keeps quiet about politics, like the 2016 presidential election. But we’re glad to see her advocating against gun violence now.

March For Our Lives was organized by the survivors of the Parkland, Florida school shooting, which left 17 dead.

"On March 24, the kids and families of March For Our Lives will take to the streets of Washington DC to demand that their lives and safety become a priority and that we end gun violence and mass shootings in our schools today," the March For Our Lives website reads. "Rally with us in Washington DC or march in your own community. On March 24, the collective voices of the March For Our Lives movement will be heard."
