Taylor Swift dedicated a song to the Manchester bombing victims during her concert, and the video will make you tear up
This is the Summer of Swift, and we’re just along for the ride. It seems that night after night, Taylor Swift delivers yet another memorable Reputation world tour moment. So far, highlights include (but aren’t limited to) performing with her BFF Selena Gomez at the Rose Bowl in California, showing some serious love for her boyfriend Joe Alwyn in Glendale, Arizona, and delivering a moving Pride Month speech in Chicago. But Swift’s latest tribute might be the most moving one yet.
On June 8th, Swift’s tour debuted in Manchester. And she took a moment to honor the victims of the tragic Manchester bombing that took place in the city at an Ariana Grande concert just over a year ago on May 22nd, 2017.
“You’ve shown that you’re never gonna let anyone forget about those victims. And you’ve shown that you have such incredible resilience to keep dancing and to keep the innocence and to keep the joy and to keep the excitement,” Swift told the crowd. “It is such an honor to play for you tonight.”
Then, she played an acoustic version of “Dancing With Our Hands Tied,” a fan favorite from Reputation. One fan took to Twitter to point out that now, given the context, the “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” lyrics take on a completely new meaning. With lyrics like, “Oh, twenty-five years old / Oh, how were you to know?” and “So, baby, can we dance? / Oh, through an avalanche?” we totally understand.
Taylor dedicated dancing with our hands tied to the Manchester attack and now the meaning has completely changed when you listen to the lyrics 😭😭😭

Well Taylor Swift – you were awesome tonight at @Etihad_Stadium. I danced, I laughed, I sang….and you made me well up with your perfect words about the resilience Manchester has shown since the attack last year. @taylorswift13 #repuatationStadiumTour pic.twitter.com/f1avXC55XN

Taylor Swift has my heart. Her speech about Manchester, her mistake at the piano, long live, the snakes. How she connected with everyone in that stadium just shows she's as incredible at performing as she is writing. I will never stop gushing
