Taylor Swift looks totally unrecognizable on her British “Vogue” cover
Look what we made Taylor do — shape-shift! A dark and broody Taylor Swift looks almost unrecognizable in her British Vogue photoshoot. Swift appears on the publication’s January 2018 cover wearing a red Saint Laurent Anthony Vaccarello creation.
British Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief, Edward Enninful, said of the shoot,
"For me, the chance to help transform America’s most fascinating sweetheart was a joy. As we took the pop icon on an epic fashion journey with photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, what struck me most about Taylor was her brilliant sense of humour, but also how, for a woman in her twenties, she has an incredible sense of who she is."
And “transform America’s sweetheart” they did. In thephotos, Taylor dons dark makeup, including smokey eyes and – in some photos — a black-red lip. The photos are in stark contrast to Swift’s previous Vogue looks in which she sported a more natural, “girl-next-door” vibe.
But as we’ve seen from her latest album, Reputation and her new videos, Swift is transitioning over to the dark side — and we’re obsessed.
Even the visually lighter photos from the series have some edge.
Fans will also get the chance to read a poem by Swift in the January edition of British Vogue, as Enninful revealed on the publication’s website. The poem is supposedly about “the timely subject of reinvention and moving on.” Given that Swift has always been a solid lyricist, we have a feeling her poetry is going to be worth a read.
We are so ready to kick off the New Year with the new Taylor.
