Taylor Swift’s new song “Look What You Made Me Do” has already broken two major records

Hate it or love it, Taylor Swift’s new single is shattering records.

The pop star released her newest song, “Look What You Made Me Do,” late on Thursday night. The song is the first single from her forthcoming record Reputation. Which is Swift’s first album in three years. And devoted Swift fans were quick to praise her new, edgier image and fresh sound on social media. But others were less enthused. Furthermore, many dissenters said they were tired of Swift playing the victim game. Because the song is allegedly about Kanye West, intended to address their ongoing beef.

Now, let’s take a listen to “Look What You Made Me Do.”

Whatever you think about the song, it has already broken two major records. First of all, it broke the record for most streamed song on the day of its debut. Second, the lyric video broke the record for number of same-day YouTube views. People streamed the song 8 million times on Spotify on Friday, and watched the video 17 million times on YouTube, according to the Associated Press.

Swift will share the accompanying music video at the MTV Video Music Awards, which airs tonight. And some people are already criticizing the video. After Swift shared a 20-second teaser clip, many people claimed she copied concepts from Beyoncé’s “Formation” video.

The discussion grew so heated, that the director of the video, Joseph Kahn, even spoke out about the alleged comparisons

false false

Still, the Bey hive has been activated. We’ll have to wait and see tonight if Kahn is staying true to his word.

Meanwhile, Swift will continue to take home the accolades with the new streaming and video view records. We’re sure there will be plenty more where that came from.
