Taylor Swift Reportedly Donated $13,000 to Moms Financially Struggling Due to COVID-19
"From one Nashville girl to another. Love, Taylor."
Taylor Swift is celebrating the season of giving by helping out a couple mothers who are struggling financially due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. According to Entertainment Tonight, the Folklore singer reportedly sent $13,000 to the GoFundMe campaigns of Nikki Cornwell, from Nashville, Tennessee, and Shelbie Selewski, from Harrison Township, Michigan, after reading about their stories in a Washington Post article.
The article explains that Cornwell, who lives with her mom and two kids, lost her job back in March and was on the verge of being evicted. According to the Post, Cornwell has pawned off jewelry and her son’s beloved PlayStation to try to make ends meet for her family. Swift wrote a supportive message to the mother along with the donation to her GoFundMe page.
Nikki, I read about you in the Washington Post and thought it was really brave of you to share your story, the message reads. I’m so sorry for everything you’ve had to go through this year and wanted to send you this gift, from one Nashville girl to another. Love, Taylor.
Swift also shared a message along with her donation to Selewski, who also lost her job, has received multiple eviction notices from her landlords, and worries about the health of her new baby, who was born with a collapsed lung.
Shelbie, I’m sending you this gift after reading about you in the Washington Post, Swift wrote to Selewski’s GoFundMe page. No one should have to feel the kind of stress that’s been put on you. I hope you and your beautiful family have a great holiday season. Love, Taylor.
This isn’t the first time Swift has reportedly subtly helped out those who were struggling financially. In March, the singer sent several fans $3000 each to help with their pandemic-related hardships.
