Taylor Swift has *two* Grammy nominations for 2018 — but neither one is for “Reputation”
It’s almost that time, folks. No, it’s not November 2020 yet. It’s time for the 2018 Grammys, and I sincerely hope you buckle in because it’s going to be a wild ride. Lady Gaga and P!nk are already set to perform, among other legends, and the guest list is spectacular. And while her presence is still unconfirmed, Taylor Swift’s two Grammy noms for 2018 certainly make it seem like she might show up, because she could totally win, and I’m not just saying that because I would give anything for her to read this and realize we’re long-lost besties. Seriously, she could take home two more Grammys, and bring her total up to 12, which is pretty legendary.
But, in a surprising twist, Taylor Swift’s two nominations are not for her latest album, Reputation.
One of the nominations is for Best Song Written For Visual Media, aka her collaboration with Zayn for Fifty Shades Darker, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.” The other is for Best Country Song for the jam she wrote for country band Little Big Town, “Better Man.” Now, no matter what you think about Swift and whether or not you like her music, there’s no denying that she’s brilliant and talented. “Better Man” already won a pretty big award in 2017, as it walked away as the Country Music Association’s choice for Song of the Year.

Now, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” isn’t as much of a (nearly) guaranteed win as “Better Man” is, objectively. For Best Country Song, Swift is up against Sam Hunt, Zach Crowell, Shane McAnally & Josh Osborne’s “Body Like A Back Road,” which was definitely a summer jam. However, she’s got a pretty good chance at winning, for sure. But for Best Song Written For Visual Media, Swift is up against La La Land jam “City Of Stars,” as well as Moana‘s “How Far I’ll Go.”
Obviously, the 28-year-old already has plenty of accomplishments under her belt, and she doesn’t really need these two Grammys, but it would certainly make her career all that much more incredible.
