Taylor Swift fans think the eight backup dancers in “Look What You Made Me Do” are symbolic

If you’ve been keeping track, you know that the symbolism in Taylor Swift’s new video is off the charts. Well, here’s some more to add to the list. Swift’s fans think the eight backup dancers in her “Look What You Made Me Do” video represent all eight of her ex-boyfriends, and it makes sense.

The “Look What You Made Me Do” video premiered at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night. Since then, Swift’s fans have been hard at work trying to figure out all the meanings, since her latest work of art is full of hidden messages and symbolism.

Do you guys remember when Tom Hiddleston wore a white “I <3 T.S” tank top, while frolicking on the beach at Swift’s Fourth of July party last summer?

Here’s a reminder:

In the video, all eight backup dancers in the video are wearing black “I <3 T.S.” tank tops.

Coincidence? Definitely not.

The reason they’re wearing the tanks is obvious, and since Swift doesn’t do anything without a reason, many think it’s clear who the dancers are supposed to represent. BuzzFeed pointed out that all eight backup dancers could be Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Conor Kennedy, Harry Styles, Calvin Harris, and of course, Tom Hiddleston.

Swift’s fans are all about the symbolism:

We have a feeling that fans will continue to accurately point out other hidden messages as time goes on. In fact, there may never be another music video that is analyzed as much as “Look What You Made Me Do.”
