Watch Taylor Swift perform a gorgeous acoustic version of “Blank Space”
Taylor Swift’s GRAMMY Museum performance back in September has proven to be the gift that keeps on giving. We were thrilled when she released the acoustic performance of “Out of the Woods” from the set back in October, and super thrilled when she gave us an acoustic version of “Wildest Dreams” earlier this week. And now, to welcome the weekend, T-Swift is giving us yet another acoustic version of one of 1989′s biggest hits: “Blank Space.” Unsurprisingly, it’s just as amazing.
Taylor intros the song with a lol-worthy explanation of how insane the dating rumors and public scrutiny got after she became the supposed Queen of Break Up Songs. But rather than let the media’s weird and warped portrayal get her bummed, she decided to turn the tables and embrace this femme fatale character.
“In the past couple of years, the media have had a really wonderful fixation on kind of painting me as the psycho, serial dating girl,” she says. “It got pretty out of control there for a couple of years, because every article was like, ‘Taylor Swift standing near some guy. Watch out, guy.’”
Thus, “Blank Space” was born — proving just how ridiculous the trope has become. Even though this version is stripped down, the song still has the level of intensity that made us all fall in love with the original.
