Taraji P. Henson sings our new fave songs in this lost ‘SNL’ sketch

It’s always a good day when SNL releases a cut-for-time sketch. These sketches that didn’t make it into the final broadcast are always little surprise treats, and the latest is nothing short of hilarious.

Back in April, this sketch was cut from Taraji P. Henson’s episode. Taraji is the lead singer of 1960s girl-group The Sparkelles (made up of Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones on drums) who have just gotten a big break performing their hit song on The Shebang Hour. The ladies nail the performance, but when it’s time for an encore . . . things don’t go so well. But that doesn’t stop the ladies from giving it their all! They’re professionals, people, not just one-song-wonders with great hair and convertibles.

Their songs may be “half-amazing,” but we’d watch these Sparkelles improv tunes all day long.
