Taraji P. Henson is our new ‘Lip Sync Battle’ queen, just FYI

Spike TV’s Lip Sync Battle has given us some pretty incredible performances — please flashback to Anna Kendrick singing about Emily Blunt — but it looks like Taraji P. Henson is about to take home the lip sync gold. In a teaser for her upcoming battle against Empire co-star Terrence Howard, she does Mary J. Blige’s “Just Fine” total justice . . . and Mary J. herself shows up to duet. Oh glory be.

Important question: When can we get Cookie and Mary J. Blige on tour together? Also if you’re a die-hard Empire fan you know that Mary J. Blige did make some uncredited musical cameos in season one of the show, and was in one episode as the character Angie. Now she and Cookie, oops we mean Taraji, are rocking the kind of drama-free girl power we all need. And now, of course, we’re all wondering what Terrence Howard can possibly do to get an advantage for his performance.

Sadly, we’ll have to wait for two weeks (!!!) to find out. The episode airs on August 20th. Until then, just mouthing along to “Just Fine.”
