Tanner from “Bachelor in Paradise” reveals he’s afraid he and Jade will get divorced, and we have so very many feelings about this
Whether or not your eyes were glued to Bachelor in Paradise, chances are you know some of the key players — like newlyweds Tanner Tolbert and Jade Roper from the 2015 season. And now our Bachelor Nation hearts are breaking a little, because it sounds like Tanner’s afraid he and Jade will eventually get divorced — at least according to the trailer for the next episode of Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars (where they’re working on their marriage with trained relationship counselors)
Yes, we know. They basically just got married. Yet here we are, and we actually think it’s a good thing that Tanner is being honest about this major point of insecurity.
"I’m scared of getting a divorce — that’s half the reason why I shut you [Jade] out. In the back of my mind, it is scary that something could change for you down the road, because I saw that happen with my family."
He goes on to admit that he and Jade moved so fast with tying the knot that they didn’t “have time to go through everything together.”
"That's probably my biggest fear," he said.
We feel you, buddy. Marriage can be extremely complicated — especially when you factor in the emotions, sensitivities, and insecurities of two individiuals trying to stay connected.
The good news is, it doesn’t seem like a break up is imminent for the couple in any shape or form. It’s more that Tanner harbors a fear that something will eventually change between them, and that’s why he’s keeping his guard up.
Hopefully the couple continues to maintain open communication — because in our opinion that’s the first step to working through any problem. Still, we’re feeling a rollercoaster of emotions for them, because this stuff isn’t easy!
Take it slow, guys. Keep talking about it together, and work through one issue at a time.
