Taco Bell biscuit tacos and other delish Cinco de Mayo freebies

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today is the anniversary of Mexico’s victory at the Battle of Puebla 153 years ago, which means people around the country will be gathering for celebrations. It’s also a marketing opportunity for franchises around the country. While free breakfast tacos aren’t the only way to honor today’s traditions, they’re kind of a nice perk. That’s the thing about Cinco de Mayo—there’s a lot of ground to cover, and plenty of ways of celebrate. So consider this your snack celebration cheat sheet. Here’s what you need to know:

Taco Bell is offering a free Biscuit Taco between 7 am and 11 am today, as part of their “Breakfast Defectors” campaign. Basically, you know that BISCUIT taco stuffed with cheese, eggs and bacon or sausage—that weird, but wonderful-sounding concoction you’ve been super-curious about? This your moment to try it. FREE.

Chili’s is throwing down a free kids’ meal, an appetizer or a dessert—all you got to do is order an entree. That’s easy enough. (Here’s the coupon.)

Applebee’s is doing it up with $4 margaritas and apps like Sizzling Skillet Fajitas, Quesadilla Burgers and Fiesta Chicken Chopped Salads.

Moe’s Southwest Grill is giving away free T-shirts. You can’t eat ’em, but you can totally add ’em to your tie-dye pile.

Sonic has half priced drinks and slushies, perfect if the temperature is already creeping up higher and higher.

Tijuana Flats has a special that will net you two tacos, chips and a drink for $5.49.

Baja Fresh has your back if you’re planning an impromptu party tonight. They’re throwing in free chips, guac and salsa for any catering orders over $100. I guess they get a lot of super-sized orders today.

Happy Cinco de Mayo, pals!
