We totally approve of Taco Bell’s menu update

Taco Bell knows we’re not stupid, and that we would like our guilty pleasure indulgences to come with as little guilt as possible. So, today the fast food chain announced a huge change that we’re so on-board with. Taco Bell has taken a pledge to serve only cage-free eggs all of its 6,000-plus U.S. locations by the end of 2016.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, that means half a million hens each year will benefit from this improvement. Cage-free eggs means that the hens lay eggs in much more posh digs than a cramped up cage, giving them a better quality of life while providing us with better quality food. How awesome is that?

Several other fast food companies, such as McDonald’s and Burger King, have also committed to this change, however, their timelines are still off in the distant future (2025 for McD’s, and 2017 for BK), as reported in Fortune.

Taco Bell also reiterated that they will deliver on a previously stated goal of removing all artificial flavors and colors, added trans fat, high fructose corn syrup, and unsustainable palm oil from its core menu items by early next year.

The chain has always been about combing novelty and convenience so cleverly that it’s hard kinda to resist (I mean, at least it is for me). Where else can you get a waffle or biscuit taco for breakfast? Or tacos made with Dorito shells? Nowhere, that’s where.

Taco Bell, we salute you for this menu change —and we’re excited to see what other healthier upgrades are in store for us!
