A ‘Sweet Valley High’ reboot may happen and we’re freaking out

Reunion, reboot, and remake rumors are soooo hot right now. (See: Gilmore Girls, Sister Act, The Craft, etc.) So, let’s throw one more into the ring for discussion, shall we? For your consideration, I give you Sweet Valley High. That’s right: Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield are ready for their closeups. Again. According to E! Online, there’s definitely an interest in rebooting the book-series-turned-90s-TV-show. Commence total (read: necessary) freakout.

“There is some talk right now,” Brittany Daniel told the website. “We’re actually going to have some conversations with Francine.” Daniel added, “That series means so much to my sister and I and we want to bring that to our kids and the next generation. So it’s only natural for us to want to bring it back.”

Francine, of course, is Francine Pascal—the author who originally developed the Sweet Valley High franchise. And Brittany is one half of the Sweet Valley Twins along with her sister, Cynthia. But before we all break out our SVH lunchboxes, let’s keep in mind how she worded that — all she said was “some talk.” Nothing is concrete, and no contracts have been signed. Still! That’s enough for us to get excited, right?

“[Sweet Valley High] seems like a lifetime ago,” said Cynthia. “For me, personally, because I’m not in the business so much anymore, I’m shocked that people still remember it. It’s amazing how many people still come up to us about it.”

Of course they do—Sweet Valley High is a quintessential ’90s show! It will forever be in our hearts and souls and core beings! As for what the show will look like, well, we’re not totally sure yet. Will the reboot take form as a new season? A spinoff? A movie? All we really know is the girls are definitely ready to discuss the idea of bringing back their beloved show. And for now, that’ll have to do. Fingers crossed for some good Sweet Valley High news to come!
