The “Supernatural” boys are going to get a “Scooby-Doo” makeover

Some may call it supernatural, but we’re calling it a miracle. The Supernatural boys are getting a Scooby-Doo makeover, and this just might be the best moment in television history.
As Supernatural makes its way through its 13th season (and already holds the title of the CW’s longest-running show),the drama will hit another milestone by airing an entirely animated episode. Co-showrunner Andrew Dabb told Entertainment Weekly that the idea of an animated episode has been around since Season 4.
But it wasn’t until Warner Bros. Animation’s Jeremy Adams inquired about a possible Scooby-Doo crossover that the idea started to become a reality.
Bustle reports that the animated episode will fall in line with the existing Sam and Dean plot line. The cartoon version of the Winchester brothers will join Scooby, Shaggy, and the rest of the gang in the Mystery Machine.
The stars of the show, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, already recorded their voices for the episode in March. Dabbs predicts that the crossover will be ready to air around March of next year.
Padalecki said after a screening of one of Season 13’s episodes,
"They’ve already started drawing it and we actually saw a little mock-up, not fully animated or anything but little black-and-white cells, what it's going to look [like]."
He added, “I grew up watching it, so to hear that animated you is going to be on the same screen with the Mystery Machine — super cool.”
In fact, Padalecki says he’s down for a full Scooby-Doo/Supernatural season. We’d be totally fine with that!
Executive producer Brad Buckner hinted that the episode has a “charming and funny” plot, which includes one brother having a good deal of expertise about the Scooby world.
When the episode airs next year, we have a feeling it’s going to be a hit with Supernatural fans. And we’re not trying to be pushy here, but how amazing would a Scooby-esque Supernatural spinoff be? Just saying!
