There will be a musical cross-over episode of “Supergirl” & “The Flash” and our hearts are SINGING

While you know the stories of Barry Allen and Kara Zor-El on TV, did you know that their real-life alter egos, Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist can SING? Yes, it’s true. Both of them actually appeared on Glee in the past, and since they’re now both CW Superheroes, it only makes sense that their musical inclinations carry over, right?

If a Flash and/or Supergirl musical episode is something you’ve been DREAMING of since both shows kicked off, all your dreams are about to come true. Earlier today at CW’s TCA panel, executive producer of the ENTIRE CW superhero world, Greg Berlanti, confirmed that yes: Singing is coming.

“There will be a musical crossover,” he explained to the crowd. “There’s going to be a musical pair of episodes in the back half of the year between Supergirl and Flash. We have a number of people who can sing across all the shows who will be making some very exciting appearances in the back half of the year.”

It’s not just Gustin and Benoist who can carry a tune. The Flash has Jesse L. Martin, who originated the role of Tom Collins in Rent on Broadway. Over on Supergirl, they’ve got their own Broadway star with the likes of Jeremy Jordan, who’s got a Tony and a Grammy nominee under his belt for Newsies

These casts are T-A-L-E-N-T-E-D.

According to Berlanti, the songs will be “preexisting,” meaning that there will be no original songs written for the shows, and it sounds like it’ll just be one episode between the two shows. But one singing episode is better than none. If you need a taste of what’s to come, Gustin actually sang one quick verse during Season 1 of the Flash. Can your heart even handle an entire episode like this?
