We’ve got the first photos of Supergirl and she looks incredible and perfect
Is that a bird? Is it a plane? Nope, it’s just the awesome first images of our new favorite television superhero, Supergirl.
We’ve been following the development of this new take on the iconic character, Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El, for what feels like forever and have been truly SUPER excited over every single announcement so far. We even cried tears of happy joy when the fabulous Melissa Benoist (yay Glee!) was cast in the titular role. Now, all those excited feelings and emotions are rushing right back, because you guys, she looks amazing with a cape. Can we make capes an “in” thing for this spring, and cite Supergirl as our inspiration?
Supergirl’s outfit was designed by Oscar-winning costume designer extraordinaire Colleen Atwood. Atwood also designed the costumes for the CW’s Arrow and The Flash. Aka she most certainly knows her way around outfitting our faves. “In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today,” Atwood told The Hollywood Reporter.
We are seriously loving everything about this, and Melissa looks so perfect in the role! Girl, we’re ecstatic for you.
Production on Supergirl actually started this past week, and if all goes according to the master plan, it’ll premiere this fall. Big ol’ “yaaaasssss” to that.
