Why tonight’s episode of ‘Supergirl’ was changed at the last minute
After the horrific events that took place in Paris on Friday, sectors of the entertainment industry are changing their plans out of respect and sensitivity to the victims and those affected by the tragedy. Movie studios have canceled premieres, bands are canceling concerts, and tonight a major network is switching out its programming.
In a statement to press released Sunday, CBS announced its plans to pull Monday night’s episode of Supergirl, and although they didn’t specify a reason, reading the episode description makes it pretty clear. In the original episode, Kara was going to attempt to stop a series of bombings, but in the wake of the real-life tragedy, it wouldn’t be right to treat that topic as entertainment.
The network also pulled tonight’s episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, which was going to be about a girl recruited by terrorists.
For those who still want their Supergirl fix—there will still be a new episode tonight. Instead, the network will be airing the Thanksgiving episode, originally slated for November 23rd. However, it’s kind of apt. If you’re sitting down to watch TV this evening, you have a lot be thankful for, so I can think of nothing better than an episode centered around gratitude and love. Especially in the aftermath of something so tragic, those are sentiments we need to hear.
