This “Supergirl” casting news has us so excited for fall TV

It’s no secret that we’re ~huge~ fans of The CW’s Supergirl. Now, this Supergirl casting news has us so excited for fall TV, as we learned from Variety. The dl? Laura Benanti, aka Alura, will be leaving the show. And who’s taking her place?! None other than Smallville’s Erica Durance, who played Lois Lane for six years. We ~can’t wait~ to see her as the mother of Supergirl, played by Melissa Benoist, of course, and how Durance as Alura will stir things up on the show.

“Unfortunately Laura, who Greg and I have worked with for years going back to ‘Eli Stone,’ was unable to continue in the role due to work commitments in New York, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly. “But we are so blessed that Erica has come aboard to offer her own interpretation of Kara’s mother…We know Erica will continue the proud tradition of legacy actors joining our shows and creating new and exciting takes on classic DC characters.

ICYMI, last season, Teri Hatcher was another former Lois Lane who was on Supergirl. So we have ~no doubt~ that Durance will be a more-than-welcome edition to the show, too.

Wonder Woman, aka Lynda Carter, starred in Season 2 of Supergirl, so the show definitely likes to populate its cast with women we love.

Season 3 of Supergirl will premiere on Monday, October 9th on The CW at 8 p.m. ET. As we said before, we’re ~super~ excited and can’t wait. Meanwhile, we’re going to go brainstorm potential plotlines for Alura and hope they come to fruition. Brb!
