Let’s get loud because the Super Bowl halftime performers have been announced
Yes, we may still be months away from Super Bowl LIV (that’s the 54th Super Bowl for those of you who don’t do Roman numerals), but we already know who will take the stage for the Pepsi Halftime Show. Let’s get loud, people. Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are tag-teaming the show, and this is going to be the greatest party of 2020. We’re calling it already.
Pepsi announced the collab via Twitter on September 26th. “First time together on stage…on the world’s biggest stage,” the soda brand, which sponsors the Super Bowl halftime show, tweeted. “Welcome @JLo and @shakira to #PepsiHalftime.”
And, of course, the crowd went wild.
We honestly can’t believe this will be the first time J.Lo and Shakira will share the spotlight. But we are here for this history-making event.

Both Lopez and Shakira shared promotional images of each other on Twitter minutes before Pepsi dropped the news, each writing that the collaboration is going down February 2nd, 2020.

“Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the halftime show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl,” Lopez said in a statement per Entertainment Weekly. “And now it’s made even more special not only because it’s the NFL’s 100th anniversary, but also because I am performing with a fellow Latina. I can’t wait to show what us girls can do on the world’s biggest stage.”
Shakira added, “I’m so honored to be taking on one of the world’s biggest stages in the company of a fellow female artist to represent Latinos and Latinas from the U.S. and all over the world—and to top it off, on my birthday! This is a true American dream and we are going to bring the show of a lifetime!”

And it seems like there’s still more news to come about the halftime show. Shakira teased a “surprise” during the two stars’ appearance on Thursday Night Football, according to People.
“When you think about Shak and you think about what I do, the combination of that, I think of an explosion of fun and energy!” Lopez said, before Shakira quickly chimed in, saying, “Don’t spoil the surprise!”
We cannot wait for this American dream to become a reality. Tune into Super Bowl LIV on February 2nd, 2020 to see Lopez and Shakira do the damn thing.
