This amazing mom started her own clothing line for girls of all sizes

Anyone who was overweight as a kid knows how tough it can be every day. Between bullies at recess and harmful media messages about your body, beauty, and worth, carrying a few extra pounds on your frame can make childhood that much more complicated.

Finding cute, comfortable clothes that fit well is one thing that kids shouldn’t have to worry about, no matter their size. That’s why a mom named Elena Hartmanis Sher started a new line of clothing called Sunflower Girlz and we think it’s adorable as it is inclusive.

As she told the Palm Beach Post, Elena’s 5-year-old daughter Samantha started to gain weight a few years ago, her clothing became uncomfortably tight around her back and chest. Simply sizing up wasn’t a good option because hems would be much too long or the style of clothing wouldn’t be age-appropriate. Elena saw other parents struggling to find clothes for their bigger daughters and realized she could help.

“I developed a line of clothes that grow with these girls,” she explained on the Sunflower Girlz website. “They are light, flexible and breathable. I created the line to make these girls feel beautiful.”

Sunflower Girlz clothing isn’t just cute and comfortable, it’s affordable too — right now everything in the collection is just $10. Which, for girls like Samantha, is definitely something to celebrate.
