The ‘Suicide Squad’ visited a 6-year-old’s lemonade stand for an excellent reason
We at HelloGiggles have a new favorite superhero — 6-year-old Na’ama Uzan. And though she may not be a part of a superhero movie franchise, she was visited by the stars of one.
Suicide Squad’s Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) paid a special visit to Na’ama’s lemonade stand on their way to the film’s wrap party in Toronto. But Na’ama’s stand isn’t just to make pocket money: she’s raising money to fight against Angelman Syndrome, which affects 1 in 15,000 people, including her older brother Nadav. The neurological disease is characterized by developmental and motor coordination problems, and epilepsy.
Since she started the stand in 2014, Na’ama has raised more than $64,000 for the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics. And it’s safe to say she’s just gained two new fans. “I heard about Na’ama’s story and what she was doing for her brother Nadav, and I just think it’s so inspiring,” Courtney told Canada’s CTV News. “It just shows that there’s no act too small when you’re talking about making a difference.”
Robbie laughingly compared the stand to her own as a kid. “I used to do all kinds of little stands like this when I was little, and I’d just spend the profits on lollies at the corner store,” she said. “So I’m glad she’s doing something far more noble with the cause!”
Na’ama donned an adorable yellow cape and matching glittery facepaint for the occasion, and when asked by the news station what her superpower would be, she replied cheerfully, “To cure AS!”
Talk about a superhero we can get behind.
