Where to listen to the songs Sufjan Stevens wrote for “Call Me By Your Name”
You’ve probably heard of Call Me By Your Name by now. It’s a beautiful film that was nominated for Best Picture at the 2018 Oscars. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t worry: It’s available for streaming. The film stars Armie Hammer and newcomer Timothée Chalamet in a coming-of-age romance that’s bound to give you all the feels. Timothée actually earned his own Best Actor nod for his role as Elio Perlman, a 17-year-old falling in love for the first time. (There’s also a lot of internet buzz about a scene with a peach.) One thing you might not know about Call Me By Your Name, however, is that musician Sufjan Stevens contributed not one, not two, but three songs to the movie’s soundtrack.
One of the tracks Sufjan Stevens wrote for the movie, “Mystery of Love,” is even nominated for Best Original Song at tonight’s Academy Awards ceremony. If the movie made you cry, you’re bound to shed some salty tears over the stunning lyrics to the song. The film’s entire soundtrack is lovely and heart-wrenching, just like the story it accompanies. So, if you’re in the mood to wreck your emotions with some Sufjan Stevens songs, you’re in luck.
