This study says why you’re getting ghosted, and it’s a reason you’ve probably thought of
When it comes to the struggles of dating today, one study claims that getting ghosted is totally not your fault.
A study by eHarmony claims 64 percent of Australians were ghosted in the last year, and 51 percent admit they’ve ghosted someone else.
Having someone you’re interested in suddenly disappear without a trace can be disheartening, but the researchers behind the study say it’s not personal. Instead, their theory is a pretty obvious one: With dating apps and social media, there are just too many options out there.
That's right. The study says most people in the dating game are seeing up to six people at once. That's a whole lot of text messages to keep up with.
What's more, the study suggests people are much less likely to stick around when another potential love interest is just a swipe away.
“The research here and around the world shows there is a lot of dissatisfaction in the outcomes of many dating apps,” Nicole McInnes, Director of eHarmony Australia, told Cosmopolitan.
So… don’t hate the player, hate the game, I guess?
