This stray cat and zoo bear and now BFFs

It’s always adorable when different kinds of animals become friends, but we typically don’t think of cats being friendly with great big zoo animals, like say, a BLACK BEAR. But it reall happened! A stray cat recently wandered into a Zoo in Folsom, California looking for food scraps, and wasn’t afraid of Sequoia, the enormous male bear in the exhibit. A bear that weighs a whopping 550 pounds.
The cat was also black, so the two animals blended together quite nicely. Of course, all this was caught on camera by people at the Zoo, and the keepers even nicknamed the kitty, “Little Bear.” Is that not the cutest thing you’ve heard all day?!
According to senior zoo keeper Jill Faust, this particular cat comes around quite often looking for food, so they sometimes leave some out for her. As for the possible danger between bear and cat, she didn’t seem overly concerned since the two animals don’t play together.
However Faust did admit, “they usually stay pretty close.” But this cat has actually been coming to the zoo to see her friend Sequoia for several months, and nothing out of the ordinary has happened. This suggests that both animals feel comfortable and safe around one another, which is incredible for a bear and a cat. Even more than that, they seem to enjoy each other’s company.
It’s definitely an unlikely friendship, but one that we can’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy about!
Friends come in all shapes and sizes, we can be sure of that.
