Strawberry Caipirinha
Here’s the thing about Valentine’s Day: I think it may have been more fun when I was single. Not because I don’t adore my boyfriend, because Lord knows I do, but because men are always a little pouty about Valentine’s Day. They don’t like being told what to celebrate, when to buy flowers and how nice a restaurant they are obligated to go to. It’s not really their thing.
But girls nights on Valentine’s? That was a good time. We’d pop bottles of bubbles, play bad single girl music, dance around and eat Chinese take out. It was a super good time.
This drink is not made with the expectation of your boyfriend making it for you. It is made with idea that you drink it with girlfriends, either while your doing your nails pre-date on Valentine’s, or when you’ve already drank the bottle of bubbly and are now blaring Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Stonger’. This is the drink I think you should be drinking.
Because it’s festive, delicious and fruity and unapologetically girly. And let’s be honest here; these days, that’s what Valentine’s Day is all about.
Strawberry Caipirinha
Per Drink
- 2 large strawberries
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 oz Cachaca
- ½ lime, juiced
- Soda to top
In a sturdy rocks glass, muddle the strawberries and sugar with a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon.
Stir in the lime and cachaca.
Taste, and adjust the lime and sugar if you need to.
Top with soda and ice and drink lots!
