Great news, “Stranger Things” has already won *five* Emmys

The TV Gods are smiling on us and the things we love! Stranger Things took home five Emmys from the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. While it’s not the Primetime Emmys that many are more familiar with, it is still a big deal. And it’s super exciting to hear about a show we can all collectively agree is one of the best around.

More importantly, there are a couple of things we can infer from the awards Stranger Things took home that make us feel like hope for greater wins in the future is pretty well justified.

For one, Stranger Things took home the Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series award, which has previously predicted the Outstanding Drama Series win at the Primetime Emmys.

As Deadline points outGame of Thrones won the casting award and then the drama series award the past two years. It’s also true for Veep, which got both wins on the comedy side.

It’s also exciting because the Academy used to shy away from genre shows when doling out awards.

Sad, but true. Let’s have a moment of silence for all the genre shows that never got their proper due.

So not only did Stranger Things take home a bellwether award, but its success at the Creative Arts Emmys is also a good sign that the Academy is continuing to take genre series more seriously — even with Game of Thrones out of the race.

Along with casting, Stranger Things also took home awards for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series, Outstanding Main Title Design, and Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music.

We’re excited to see what other awards might be in store for Stranger Things, when the Primetime Emmys air this Sunday! And we can’t wait to watch Stranger Things Season 2 when it debuts on Netflix on October 27th.
