We NEED this sticker that tells us exactly when to eat an avocado, because the ripe avocado struggle is real
There are few joys in the world that compare to cutting open a perfectly ripe avocado. Seeing the ideal texture — soft but not squishy — of this versatile, healthy fruit makes us feel like all is right with the world again. The only trouble is, sometimes we jump the gun too early, or we arrive to the party too late. And our avocado dreams are ruined.
That’s why we need this genius sticker, which was pictured and posted by a reddit user last week. It’s a fool-proof way to know exactly when your avocado is ripe for the picking, so you can save all that brain power you waste at the grocery store, picking up and squeezing every single avocado in the produce section.
It’s simple, it’s easy, and we need it in our lives right now. The sticker tells you that any avo that’s a lighter green is nowhere close to being ripe. When it starts to reach a military-greenish hue, that’s when it’s at a firm ripe, which is probably the best time to toss some avo slices into a salad or eat it with tuna tartar. But when it’s reached its darkest green is when it’s a soft ripe. That’s when you can make avocado toast, guacamole, put it in a smoothie, etc.
What do we have to do to get our local avo producers to slap one of these stickers on all of their fruit? Why did this reddit user get a sticker and we didn’t?! Well, worse comes to worse, we can always save this pic to our phone and haul it to the grocery store as a reference. Problem solved.
