The Stevie Nicks Song You’ve Been Waiting To Hear

If I told you there was an entire vault of Stevie Nicks songs from the ’70s eagerly waiting to be revived . . . would you believe me? Yeah, I know. I’m fully aware of how fantastic that sounds, but I assure you, it’s really happening! In fact, her forthcoming album, 24 Karat Gold: Songs From The Vault, is comprised entirely of lost demos from her early days. Today, we’re fortunate enough to get a taste of the album’s debut song, “The Dealer,” which dates back to good ol’ 1979. Let’s give it a listen, shall we?

Alright, let’s talk about this. First off, that voice! It takes me right back to some of her greatest hits with Fleetwood Mac (a la “Dreams” and “Gypsy“). I dare any Fleetwood Mac fan to say their hearts didn’t skip a nostalgic beat when the song started.

Seeing as though this song was from Fleetwood Mac’s Tusk era, the lyrics of “The Dealer” are in keeping with that album. If you look at the words of any of Stevie’s songs from that LP (“Beautiful Child,” “Sara,” “Angel“), you’ll notice a slight undercurrent of darkness. “The Dealer” is certainly no exception. In spite of its upbeat riffs, the song is self-reflective in nature, echoing sentiments of personal regrets, mindless mistakes, and lessons learned. Hey, all the more reason to love this track!
